Regional Voices to Stretch out a Helping Hand to Regional Media on a Look out for New Ways of Development

The Thomson Foundation and the Institute for Regional Media and Information (IRMI), supported by the EU, welcome regional media organizations to apply for a business mentoring programme which is part of the Regional Voices project.    

The programme envisages module-based training for media managers, mini-grants for marketing research and production of programmes about the aftermath of the conflict in the East of Ukraine and the annexation of the Crimea (up to 4 thousand Euro). Apart from that, Thomson and IRMI’s experts will work with journalists of the selected media on news production in the news organizations of the latter, advising on workflow optimization and multimedia content production.   

Eligible applicants are regional news organizations: TV, online, print and radio. To participate in the selection process, fill out the online application form until Tuesday, 4 April, 2017.   

The selected media outlets will sign a 5 month cooperation contract. In the 5 month period the media managers will undergo three training modules (each module is 3 days in duration), carry out an audience research and prepare a business strategy for their news organization based on the research.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Only regional media outlets can apply

The successful candidate will show:

  • professional coverage of socially important issues, including IDP-related ones
  • understanding of how a media market functions

They will have:

  • transparent system of ownership (for privately-owned media outlets)

They will be:

  • a motivated learner
  • participant in privatisation reform (for state-owned and municipal news organizations)
