The Thomson Foundation and the Institute for Regional Media and Information, are happy to invite regional TV and online journalists to join a three-day mentoring session on how to create videos for social media. The workshop will take place on February 6 to 8 in Dnipro.
The trainees will find out about editing peculiarities for TV and social media, also having to edit a video aimed for the latter ones. The purpose of the mentoring session is to foster cooperation between journalists from different regions: by means of exchanging the footage and creating together video clips by using Regional Voices hub. The Hub incorporates over 2030 videos, including interviews with IDPs, administrators, CSO representatives, volunteers and local residents of more than 10 regions and over 30 cities and villages. The archive is going to be replenished by new videos produced in the course of Regional Voices production workshops for TV journalists.
During a three-day course the trainees will be working in teams, shooting new stories and editing them together with videos produced on previous courses, drawing parallels between IDP situations in two regions (Kyiv and Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava, Odessa, Vinnytsia and Lviv). The videos will be put up online as co-authored.
To apply for the mentoring session, please, fill out online application form before Thursday, January 26. The journalists that participated in 5-day production courses within the Regional Voices Project are welcome to apply.
The organizers cover accommodation, travel (bus, 2nd class rail travel) and meals.

ABOUT TRAINERS
David Hands (Cyprus), experienced producer, cameraman, editor and soundman. He worked for ABC News (US) during the former Yugoslavia war, for BBC and Swiss TV in East and Central Africa, for Dutch and German TV in Jerusalem. In 2003, he moved back to Cyprus and became a partner at Crewhouse Media, a film and video production house specializing in documentaries, news production and short fiction films. He produced a number of bi-communal documentaries and PSA’s with the aim of bridging the gap between the two communities of Cyprus. Since 2007 David has been a regular consultant for the Thomson Foundation.
Iryna Bulyshеva (Ukraine). Iryna is one of the founders of Dopomoha Dnipra charity fund and a coordinator for public communications for the organisation. Since June 2014 Iryna has been taking active part in accommodating IDPs rhroughout Dnipro region and the whole of Ukraine. She organises and leads round tables on fostering communication between the authorities and IDPs in Dnipro region, has experience in organising and running focus groups and monitoring of IFP needs and state. Iryna also leads motivational meetings with IDPs on existing opportunities for adaptation and integration into host communities, IDP entrepreneurship and establishing CSOs.

Regional Voices: Strengthening Conflict Sensitive Coverage in Ukraine’s Regional Media is an 18 month initiative directed at the development of regional media and decrease of potential areas of communal tensions through balanced and ethical news stories about internally displaced persons (IDPs). The project is funded by the EU. It is implemented by the Media Consortium of five organizations: Thomson Foundation, Institute of Regional Media and Information (IRMI), MEMO 98, Association Spilnyi Prostir (ASP) and The European Journalism Center.
