The Institute for Regional Media and Information and The Thomson Foundation welcome regional journalists to be part of workshops within the EU-funded Regional Voices initiative.
- October 10 – 12, Odessa – a three-day interregional mentoring session
- October 10 – 14, Odessa – a production workshop for IDP journalists from Donbas and Crimea
- October 17 – 21, Sumy – a production workshop for IDP journalists from Donbas and Crimea
During the 10-12 October mentoring session the participants from different regions will be working in pairs with their Odessa colleagues to produce stories together. The journalists will be given an opportunity to compare how IDPs have been integrating in Odessa with the situation in their regions. What are special conditions created by local authorities and community, which ideas could be taken on board? Those and other questions will be explored by the participants, guided by workshop trainers – Mark Webster (the Thomson Foundation) and Angelina Soldatenko (The IRMI). The produced stories are to be published in co-authorship.
Both five-day workshops, scheduled for October 10–14 and October 17–21 in Odessa and Sumy, will focus on how to humanize conflict-sensitive coverage with the voices of those, who were bound to leave their homes behind. The participants will have a week to meet with IDPs, local authorities, CSO representatives and community members. Oliver Wates of Thomson’s and IRMI local experts will help the trainees with angles and story structure, balancing the stories out and final editing.
To apply for either of workshops, please, fill out the online application form before September 21, Wednesday.
The organizers cover accommodation, travel (bus, 2nd class rail travel) and meals.
For more information about the workshops contact Regional Voices project team – Oleksii Soldatenko – at 050 323 14 30 or сontact@regionalvoices.eu
